Recently, our highly experienced, licensed and bonded team were excited to work on a pool deck remodel at a beautiful home in Gold Canyon. Gold Canyon is a unique, growing community just outside of Phoenix, located near the Superstition Mountain Wilderness, at the foothills of Superstition Mountain. Members of the community benefit from many golf courses and beautiful homes, built since 2000.This project included a pool deck remodel, and the installation of a beehive fireplace and barbeque area. All of these features work together successfully to create a unique, stylish, and usable space for outdoor living and entertaining. Our clients selected concha shellstone pavers helping to contribute to the overall gorgeous, luxurious end result that complements the classic design of their pool.
On a project like this, the process of picking the right pool deck material for the remodel is important and takes into account a number of factors including:
- The existing surface of the pool deck being remodeled
- The design, architecture and style of the home
- Design elements or hardscape features the client is looking to add
- Potential drainage or installation requirements
- The project budget
Concha shellstone pavers were the perfect choice for this project. The pavers are composed of limestone and include deposits of shell fragments and coral. These pavers create a luxurious look, each one unique in style and character. They are thick and solid and come in different sizes so you can create the perfect look for your pool deck, large or small. The shells and coral create unique texture elements and bring in a range of colors to make these pavers look even more stylish.
Concha shellstone pavers are mostly beige in color, with a lightness that allows for the unique colors of the shells and coral to shine through as a feature. In general the colors of these pavers will range from a creamy white to a golden beige. Part of the design process for any pool deck, including a remodel, is selecting the materials and colors that will work best for the architecture, look, and design of your home. Once you have decided on these you can create a truly unqiue, luxurious, high-quality pool deck that you will love and enjoy for decades.
Shellstone are natural stone pavers which means they stay cooler, and shellstone in particular, has the unique characteristic of remaining cool to the touch in direct sunlight. This is a real plus for any Arizona pool deck. Natural stone is also porous which helps with slip resistance around the pool.
Looking at this Gold Canyon project in particular, the unique shape of this client’s pool is undoubtedly highlighted and complemented by the light, bright tones of the shellstone pavers. The pool design and choice of pavers work together to create a classic look that will continue to deliver style and functionality for many years to come.
This project also included the addition of a beehive fireplace and barbecue area. Carrying the concha shellstone pavers over into the design of these two features creates a luxurious look that has clearly been thoughtfully designed. This style of the outdoor fireplace is classic for an Arizona backyard, and the placement is fully complemented by a gorgeous view right out into the desert landscape. The beehive fireplace, outdoor kitchen, and barbeque area flow perfectly together. We are excited that these homeowners will be enjoying this highly functional and stylish outdoor area and pool deck for years to come with shellstone pavers tying everything together.
